- Medium Depth and Large Diameter The Standard 3 Mouthpiece has Bachs largest diameter making it the great choice for achieving the lower register with ease. The medium depth to the cup also allows a for a large volume and a superb tone even in the real low register of the instrument. Narrow Rim Shape The rim shape on the 3 is a traditional French Horn narrow rim which is commonly found to be approximately 4mm in width. This offers a lot of flexibility in pitch meaning that extreme highs and lows of the instrument are easily obtainable. Medium Throat All Bach Standard Mouthpieces come with a Medium Sized Throat. This means that it will produce an even response to all registers of the instrument.
