- About Boomwhackers Boomwhackers are tuned percussion tubes that provide a wonderfully unique musical experience. They are lightweight so perfect for children or those less able to lift heavier items. They are also colour coded using Boomwhackers universal notation system and precisely tuned to exact musical pitches by length. Boomwhackers are great for use by individuals but they really come into their own when used by an ensemble or group. Sound is created by whacking the tube against different surfaces. The harder the surface the stronger and brighter the sound. The "truest" sound is produced when striking the surface of the tubes about a 1/4 of the way down and keeping the end of the tube open and uncovered by your hand. However the beauty of the Boomwhacker is creativity so go ahead and experiment! Boomwhackers Tuned Percussion Tubes C Major Diatonic Scale Set The C Major Diatonic Scale Boomwhacker Set consists of eight notes - C D E F G A B C. This is the most popular Boomwhacker set and is usually preferred by educators as it gives the full octave range. Boomwhackers Tuned Percussion Tubes Chromatics Set The Boomwhackers Chromatic Set consist of the five sharps and flats in the standard octave. It forms another pentatonic scale which its own pleasing sound and combines with the Diatonic Set to create a full chromatic scale of 12 notes. Boomwhackers Tuned Percussion Tubes C Major Pentatonic Scale Set The C Major Pentatonic Scale Boomwhacker Set consists of six notes - C D E G A C. This set in particular is great for people less familiar with music as all the notes will sound good together. Perfect for young children who those who think they cant play music! Boomwhackers OC8G Octavator 8 Pack The Boomwhackers OC8G Caps lower the tone of the tubes by an octave. The 8 pack contains enough caps to use on any of the Boomwhackers sets. These caps allow you to achieve a wide range of sounds by selecting which notes you would like at a lower octave. Chroma-Notes aid learning Boomwhackers use the Chroma Notes system which is a series of colours which indicate the notation of each tube. Whilst it is perfectly possible to have fun and make music with Boomwhackers without being aware of the notation the colours provide a handy visual reference for those wishing to learn more of music and music theory. Many teachers use the same colour code to mark other instruments in the classroom allowing students to repeat tunes learned with Boomwhackers on other instruments and learn a universal musical language.
