Principio means beginning in Spanish, and that's exactly what this guitar is built for: giving new players the best possible start without compromising on quality. The Principio series punches well above its price point. These are genuinely impressive-sounding instruments, light in the hands yet solidly built, and they bear little resemblance to the flimsy starter guitars many players remember from their early years.

Much of that stability comes down to the neck construction. Made from okoumé wood and reinforced with two carbon rods, it's both lightweight and resistant to the kind of movement that can cause cheaper guitars to go out of shape over time. The body top follows traditional classical construction, utilising solid spruce, while the back and sides are olive. The eco-matt water-based lacquer finish feels great to play and, crucially, allows the wood to vibrate more freely than a heavy gloss coating would. The result is an open, natural tone that rewards even a beginner's touch.

Finishing details include a wooden mosaic soundhole rosette and gold-plated machine heads, giving the guitar a look that feels a step above its price. German-made Hannabach 600HT nylon strings with a carbon G3 are fitted as standard, a thoughtful choice that completes the overall sound package.

If you're buying a first classical guitar for yourself or someone else, the Principio makes a great case for itself!
