- Potentiometers wear out over time, causing a crackling sound when you touch the volume or tone controls of your guitar. Luckily, the CTS USA will put an end to this. The CTS500-A54 potentiometer has a long shaft, making it suited for guitars with a thick or arched body. Additionally, its 500-kOhm resistance is suitable for high-output pickups such as humbuckers. This pot meter has a logarithmic taper, making it a perfect volume control. Its 3/8-inch-diameter split shaft makes it suitable for virtually all screw-less control knobs.
