- DAddario Zyex These strings feature a core made of multifilament synthetic materials - named Zyex. This is the key to the strings flexibility and elasticity as well as its natural gut like sound. The A and D strings are wound with aluminium the lightness of this metal is ideal for higher strings. The G string is wound with silver a material often used in strings as it is resistant to corrosion. The C string is wound with tungsten - the heaviest material used on strings making this excellent for lower strings. Heavy tension These strings are a heavy tension. These strings will sound the loudest of the three tensions of these strings however these strings will be harder to stop as a result of the higher tension. More effort would be required for bowing these strings as well.
