With the slightly thicker strings, you get the maximum volume and projection out of your guitar without making your instrument difficult to play. Cryogenic freezing of guitar strings has certainly proved to be a successful experiment. During the process, the molecules in the string pull tight and microscopic holes are significantly reduced. This makes it a lot harder for harmful substances to penetrate to the core of the string. A great side effect is that transient frequencies, causes of shrill treble and soggy bass, are removed.
