- The Erica Synths Perkons HD-01 is a comprehensive drum machine that will keep many an EDM and synthpop fan entertained for a long time. There are four tracks, with each track featuring synth parameters and an x0x-style steptime sequencer. The nice thing about the HD-01 is that the synth parameters can be recorded, becoming part of the sequence. To illustrate this with an example: normally in drum computers you find an open hi-hat and a closed hi-hat, often they have their own track. With the HD-01, you basically use one sound for the hi-hat. So by turning the decay parameters at the right moments (and recording that), you can have both that closed and that open hi-hat on the same track. And that decay is just an example, the other parameters can also be recorded. So a great hands-on drum machine, one with a much more varied sound palette than you might think at first sight.
