- Fretless design for expressive playing The Chicago Fretless Bass Guitar replaces traditional frets with a smooth fingerboard allowing notes to glide naturally into one another. This design encourages subtle pitch control vibrato and expressive slides that are difficult to achieve on a fretted instrument. The oiled poplar laminate fretboard offers a smooth surface that supports these techniques while maintaining durability. Whether youre playing slow melodic lines or experimenting with expressive phrasing the fretless layout gives you more control over how each note develops and connects. Versatile pickup configuration for flexible tones A combination of bridge single-coil and neck split-coil pickups provides a wide tonal palette. The single-coil adds clarity and definition helping notes stand out clearly in a mix. The split-coil pickup introduces fuller low-end response and warmth. Using the two volume controls you can blend the pickups to find the balance that suits your style. Two tone controls let you adjust the treble response making it easy to shape anything from rounded mellow sounds to brighter more focused tones. Lightweight body designed for comfort The body is constructed from Paulownia a lightweight tonewood that helps keep the bass comfortable to hold during extended practice or rehearsal sessions. Its ergonomic shape sits naturally against your body whether you&rsquo
- re standing or seated. Wide cutaways provide clear access to the upper register of the neck giving your fretting hand freedom to explore the entire fingerboard without restriction. Smooth maple neck supports fluid movement The maple neck features a natural satin finish that helps your hand move easily along the fingerboard. This smooth feel reduces friction when shifting positions which is especially helpful when playing fretless bass where precise finger placement matters. The comfortable C-shaped profile sits naturally in the hand while the two-octave fingerboard provides plenty of range for exploring both low grooves and higher melodic passages.
