Product Fundamentals
- Attention to Detail When Holton are manufacturing the H378 they take extra care to ensure only the best quality horns are produced. All Holton French horns include hand-lapped rotors that are tapered. While you play the rotors progressively wear and will slowly seat themselves. This includes the bearing surfaces axles on each end of the valve and the bearing plates. To ensure the rotor system stays quick and reliable the H378 uses a string action which is quieter and cheaper to fix compared to a ball-joint action. This design results in a longer lasting rotor mechanism and less chance of the valves seizing. Quality Materials The Holton H378 wouldnt be an outstanding instrument without professional grade materials. Unlike other horns at this price the H378 features solid nickel silver slides instead of brass. Nickel silver is very dense and more resistant to corrosion meaning the slides wont flake and are less likely to seize up. To guarantee the best possible sound the bell of the H378 is made using overlapped seams. This method is much more durable than bells made with a butt seam. Overlapped seams also produce a richer sound with a smoother tone.
