- Outstanding beginner strings Larsens Aurora violin strings are made of similar materials to many of Larsens other strings. Like many violin E strings the E string in this set is made of pure carbon steel with no winding. This allows the projection and brightness that you want from the violins top string. The remainder of the strings are built on Larsens unique multi-filament synthetic core. The A string is wound with Aluminium the D string is double wound with Aluminium and the G string is wound with high-grade silver. These materials are chosen for their tonal characteristics silver has a much warmer sound compared to Aluminium so is well-suited to the G string. Sometimes you want an extra layer of warmth to your lower register. Larsen has opted for an optional A string that is wound with a single layer of aluminium and then a second layer of pure silver. This increases the lower harmonics in the sound which is often desirable on lower strings. Larsen Auroras are the gold standard of beginner strings no one should be left out from having these as their first experience. Fortunately Auroras are available in multiple sizes from full size (4/4) all the way to 1/16 size.
