- Materials chosen for playability These strings being based on the Larsen Original strings use Larsens unique synthetic multi-filament core for the D G and C strings. The A string in the pack is the same as the Larsen Original viola A. The D string is wound with precision rolled aluminium flat wire and the G and C strings are wound with pure silver providing the depth and warmth the lower strings deserve. Other options The A string is available in both loop and ball end variants. This is so you are able to use these strings regardless of the tailpiece your instrument has. Two tensions are available medium and soloist edition. The soloist edition further improves the projection and response bringing a more focused sound to the forefront. Larsen Strings Larsen began in 1990 when Laurits Th. Larsen was tasked with obtaining 300 strings for a colleague. Larsen decided to make the strings himself in his garage. In 18 months his first cello A string was produced. Since then Larsen has expanded producing strings for violin viola and cello. Larsen provides their strings in a packaged envelope like many strings.
