Product Fundamentals
  • About Candido Camero Born in the outskirts of Havana in 1921 Candido Camero Guerro grew up surrounded by afro-cuban rhythms. Moving to New York City in the early 40s Candido quickly gained a reputation as a pioneering and inventive conga player spearheading the transition from a single conga to sets of two or three drums at differing pitches Through his career he worked with world-famous greats like Dizzy Gillespie and Billy Taylor and recorded many albums as band leader. In later life he was part of the "Conga Kings" group with Patato and Giovanni Hidalgo and continued to perform regularly until his death at the age of 99 in 2020. About Latin Percussion From the moment he first stepped foot into New Yorks famous Birdland jazz club in 1956 Martin Cohen fell in love with Latin Jazz music. An engineer by trade when he discovered authentic Cuban percussion instruments could not be imported to the USA Cohen began designing and building his own. In 1964 Latin Percussion (LP) was officially born and in the fifty years since has become a household name for professional percussionists seeking the very best quality instruments with a little visual flare to boot. LPs products have featured on many of the most recognisable recordings in the world across a whole span of genres. With a staggering range of models from bongos and congas to cowbells and shakers and even hardware and accessories Latin Percussion is one of the worlds most trusted percussion brands.
