- As expected from any such Leica lens, the Leica 16-35mm f3.5-4.5 Vario-Elmar-SL Asph Lens features all the merits that enable the trademark Leica-level image quality and performance. This lens, well-suited to street, architecture, landscape and portrait photography, is equipped with an advanced and complex lens structure that delivers incredible image quality throughout the zoom range. This optical design is comprised of 18 glass elements arranged in 12 groups, including the use of two aspherical and three anomalous partial dispersion elements. These elements are treated with multi-layer coatings which together maintain image quality by suppressing reflections, flare, and ghosting, and significantly reducing aspherical and chromatic aberrations. A strong stepping AF motor and internal focusing system maintain image quality throughout the focal range and provide fast, precise and near-silent AF performance. Again, this lens is designed for quality and never ceases to impress.
