The 75mm focal length affords a balance of dimensionality and compression, whilst the bright f2 maximum aperture benefits from low-light situations and provides improved depth of field control. In regard to its optical construction, the Leica 75mm f2 is characterised by its key apochromatic designation. This incorporates anomalous partial dispersion glass to actively eliminate colour fringing and chromatic aberrations, one high refractive aspherical lens element, and a floating element to maintain clarity and sharpness throughout the full focal range. Adhering to Leica's tried-and-tested manual focus design, the 75mm f2 is incredibly compact and well-balanced. This combination allows for a minimum focusing distance of 6cm, whilst also allowing further access to 49mm screw-in filters.
