- High-quality resonating shells The Ludwig Classic Maple Downbeat 3pc Shell Pack features 7-ply Cross-Laminated North American Maple shells which are the preferred choice by many professionals for their exceptional tonal versatility. These shells offer high sensitivity wide dynamic tuning ranges and a sharp attack making them perfect for any live performances. The classic maple standard 7-ply 6mm shells are formulated to provide optimum resonance and tonality. These shells have a rapid response making them suitable for any playing style. 45-Degree bearing edges Each of the drums bearing edges are cut to a 45-degree angle within 1/16 from the outer edge. This sharp edge is hand-sanded to assure a smooth even and flat surface to provide easy head placement. RFST Moulding for maximum stability The Ludwig USA shells are produced using Radio Frequency Shell Technology which increases stability through-out each drum. The RFSTs unique bonding system is combined with a specialised time-tested adhesive to cure each shell evenly over the entire surface of the shell.
