- Six ply shells The six-ply birch shells allow for a higher fundamental with a long sustain. The drums are responsive and project well the rack toms have a bright tone with good punch and the lower frequency bass drum and floor toms are supported by strong frequencies across the spectrum. SONIClear bearing edge Mapex have modified the standard 45 degree bearing edge by shortening the inner edge and rounding the outer edge. This allows for more flush contact with the head with more contact area. This makes tuning the drum easier and provides more stability in that tuning. The shells resonance and tonal clarity is also enhanced with this bearing edge. SONIClear tom suspension This specially designed tom suspension from Mapex allows for the tom to stay in tune better thanks to tension being diverted away from the tension rods. The vibrations within the shell are also increased allowing for better tonal quality.
