- Hot-rodded performance MXR took a classic distortion circuit and hot-rodded it to the next level for over-the-top soaring leads and rich saturated rhythms with the MXR Custom Badass 78 Distortion Guitar Pedal. The 78 Distortions thick gnarly tone sounds great whether its in front of a clean amp a slightly dirty amp or a amp soaked in gain. Under the hood this high performance machine features ingenious circuitry choices and hardware designed for a lifetime of use. Clever circuitry The 470R resistor between the pairs of diodes is a magic addition to the circuit. It limits their clipping action and makes sure the signal can still continue to rise until the LEDs kick in. This delivers the same final degree of clipping but with an earlier start and a more gradual bend. This makes for a smoother response which brings out more harmonic content.
