Materials The A and D strings have a single filament steel core wound with chrome steel. This core is great for the upper strings as it provides more brightness and projection. The lower two strings have a rope steel core which consists of multiple strands of steel intertwined into a strong yet flexible "rope". They are also wound with titanium which provides warmth and power that is appropriate for the lower strings. Soloist Permanents are also available in a soloist version. These are made of the same materials as the standard Permanents but simply are made to a lower tension.
