Product Fundamentals
- The original analog and digital hybrid Introduced in 1983 the TR-909 followed the release of the massively influential TR-808 with the aim of fusing analog circuitry and digital sampling in one unit. Digital samples of acoustic drums were becoming increasingly popular but fell into the pitfall of not sounding authentic with this in mind Roland engineers went to work on using a hybrid approach that used tweakable analog circuitry for the shells (Kick snare clap and toms) to provide maximum punch whilst using digital sampling for the cymbals to provide an extra layer of realism and humanism. The result is a ubiquitous instrument of the electronic music production world that has helped carve musical genres and bring them to the mainstream. Dance floor classic The innovative fusion design of analog and digital in one instrument helped to pioneer musical genres such as house techno and hip-hop by providing a solid rhythmic foundation on which to build your tracks. The Roland Cloud TR-909 Virtual Instrument delivers the signature sound of powerful and deep bass drums with snappy and punchy snares that give a pulse to your music that becomes irresistible to the unbeknownst crowd and will be a sure-fire way to get your audience dancing. Providing a different flavour to its sibling the TR-808 the TR-909 Virtual Instrument delivers a more liquid feel one that gives off unique character and flavour that can help your music productions achieve the euphoric feel of the early to mid-80s underground dance scene. Faithful recreation Brought to life by the innovative analog circuit behaviour (ACB) component level modelling technology the TR-909 Virtual Instrument is the most accurate presentation of this instrument available to date. Expertly engineered you can expect to hear the original sample ROM and primitive digital technology from the hardware included which provides the signature 909 cymbal sounds that is revered by dance music producers worldwide. Not simply a reductive sample pack of sounds or imitative knock-off the Roland Cloud TR-909 Virtual Instrument pays homage to the origins by accurately replicating the adjustable characteristics of each drum and their interactions with each other. Packed full of mojo the TR-909 Virtual Instrument gives a feeling of liveliness and injects that special something into your tracks. Its never been easier to achieve the instantly recognisable thumping low-end and smooth high end of the original hardware than it is now with the TR-909 Virtual Instrument. Expanded feature set Not content with providing you with the world-class sounds of the hardware the Roland Cloud TR-909 Virtual Instrument injects new and exciting modern implementations to fit your workflow. An authentic experience that is full of character is now more customisable than ever before with the ability to overdrive the internal circuitry for a more gritty and over-the-top sound. The classic 16-step "TR-REC" sequencer is now expandable to include a lane for each instrument allowing you to program your sequences faster and more fluidly. Now with eight variations per sequence you can create fresh and evolving rhythms that capture the attention of your audience. Adjustable flams and soft hits allow you to create more detailed grooves and fills than ever before with each instrument featuring a "last step" to program complex shuffle rhythms and polyrhythms. Once you have created your sequence you can simply drag the pattern directly from the plugin to your DAW session as a MIDI or audio file. These new features allow you to explore a great deal of flexibility without being constrained by the limitations of hardware sequencers making it the perfect tool for modern electronic music production workflow. Hardware Integration To keep up with the needs of the modern composer musician and performer the TR-909 Virtual Instrument is compatible with select Roland hardware including the TR-8S Rhythm Performer. You can now send patterns from the hardware directly to your plugin including all eight variations to store these for any future performances or sessions making it easier than ever to recall your favourites. Not only that but you are able to send patterns from your plugin through to your hardware with pre-mapped controls for on the fly editing of parameters such as volume tune and decay.
