Features of the MKH 418S Mid/side stereo is a special type of technology that was engineered especially for stereo recording. Instead of the traditional left and right channel, it uses a mid and side channel, which means you get the focused audio of a shotgun mic as well as some background audio that you can either filter out or bring to the foreground later on.
