Product Fundamentals
- Powerful transient shaping made easy Take control over the envelope of your sampled or recorded instruments with TransMod. Ideal for setting the distance an instrument is within your mix TransMod can be used to bring instruments forward to the forefront or to set them further back in the mix creating distance between the listener. The unique processing and algorithms employed within Oxford TransMod operate unlike anything else. The signal is not being compressed so TransMod remains clean and pristine not introducing any unwanted artefacts as a compressor or clipper would. Incredibly simple and easy to use TransMod features only a few controls to alter the attack transient of your audio signal. Take rhythmic instruments and modulate their attack level to reshape your track. Input gain can be used to drive the signal going into the plug-in to alter what level the transients are detected by TransMod. Threshold and Deadband controls determine exactly what incoming transients have processing applied to them making it ideal for catering to different audio tracks to get the right sound for your mix. The Ratio control determines whether positive or negative transient shaping will take place. This is where you will be able to change the attack envelope of your sound by boosting it to add punch and power or removing it for a more washed-out sound. Overshoot enables you to fine-tune how long after the initial transient has been detected where TransMod still applies processing. Pushing the Overshoot control will result in more of the envelope being processed. Both Rise and Recover times operate similar to a release response determining the speed at which TransMod applies processing to your attack. Most exciting of all the Overdrive control adds harmonic saturation to boost the perceived loudness of your sound whilst allowing peaks of up to +6dB over digital ceiling levels without introducing any peaking. Whilst it functions best on percussive instruments TransMod performs well on electric guitars for example. TransMod can be used to help guitars cut through the mix better without having to push and drive faders up eating up precious headroom and clarity within a mix. By adding attack to guitar signals you can add an edge to your sound to cut through the mix without adjusting the overall balance and volume of your mix. The perfect tool for percussive instruments Ideal for altering the attack of your percussive instruments within a mix TransMod can help finely tune the drums of your productions. With only a few dials TransMod can be used to emphasise attack adding hardness and punch to your sound or can be used to remove initial transient information to set your drums further back in the mix. Boosting the transient information will result in a tighter sound ideal for removing the influence of ambience from a drum overhead microphone. Removing the initial transient information is perfect when working with electronic drum loops. TransMod can be used to replace the kick and snare samples found within a loop. By bringing the attack all the way down you will keep the main body of the sound sample vocals or other instruments within the loop whilst effectively eliminating the kick and snare drum. This means then you could lay your own preferred samples over the top of the loop to create a new sound for your project.
