- About Sonor Founded in 1875 Sonor started manufacturing military drums from there they developed into making the masterpieces you see today packed full of almost 150 years of experience. The first Sonor drum kit was made in 1952 and todays various Sonor series have captured the very essence of this. Sonor continues to re-introduce analogue sounds into a digital world keeping up with high demands of durability and reliability as well as standing out with some magnificent and unique finishes. Innovative Shell Design Sonors AQ2 Martini series shells are constructed from seven plies of maple wood made up of four plies of Canadian Maple and three plies of Chinese maple to create a truly unique and dynamic overall sound. This ties in perfectly with the rounded bearing edges which deliver a resounding deep resonance. The rounded edge also maximises contact between the shell and the drumhead leaving room for the head to be unrestricted but still under precise tension. Top-of-the-range hardware Freshly designed hardware has been added to the AQ2 series featuring Sonors latest SmartMount system. This minimises metal-shell contact for a clean sound with natural resonance and trailing sustain. Made from steel and finished in chrome the hardware really stands out on stage and withstands the intense demands of the modern drumming world.
