Product Fundamentals
  • Please Note: This instrument is supplied with a standard case for shipping purposes only. Please visit our Cello Accessories page to find your perfect case and bow. Hand carved to perfection Each and every part of the Stentor Messina cello has been set up by hand. Individually carved by the most skilled workers in a specialist workshop each cello is produced under the close supervision of one master maker. This traditional luthier workflow is exactly how cellos were made hundreds of years ago. The Spruce top and figured Maple back sides and neck have all been individually carved to provide the best possible sound. The fitted Aubert bridge has been contoured to match the shape of the fitted fingerboard allowing for optimum feel and ease of playing. The pegs and pegbox have been carved to match each other - perfectly designed for easy tuning. Once the Messina is completed a shellac varnish is applied for an instantly recognisable traditional finish. Finally each and every cello is workshop tested to guarantee perfection. Full Ebony fittings The Stentor Messina has been given some of the best fittings available to make a truly professional instrument. Ebony was chosen for the fingerboard and pegs because of its super-fine grain which is very resistant to moisture. As a result they Ebony fittings wont warp or bulge over time making the instrument long-lasting and easy to maintain. Ebony is also a tough wood meaning it is less susceptible to damage. Pirastro Chromcor cello strings Pirastro Chromcor strings are ideal for cellists looking for a brilliant and bright sound. Perfect for playing all genres of music these long-lasting chrome-wound strings will not only sound great but will not corrode due to hand perspiration. The A and D strings have a bright sound while the G and C strings have a rounded and brilliant sound and are easy to play. All of these strings have a very easy response and provide exceptional tuning stability and immediate playability.
