With the StewMac SM0673 string spacing rule, finding the right string spacing for virtually any stringed instrument becomes a piece of cake. This slat of flexible stainless steel does all the work: the proportional slot spacing automatically compensates for string diameters, from treble to bass, so that the thicker strings are not too close together. With equal string spacing, the thicker bass strings sometimes seem too close together, you fix that problem with this tool. Slots are provided so you can quickly mark string positions. This practical tool is not only suitable for notching a nut, you can also use it, for example, for Tune-o-matic bridge saddles or when notching banjo, mandolin and fiddle bridges.
