- s SM5435 fret slot depth gauge, you can quickly and easily see if the slot for your frets is deep enough. First check the height of the fret wire and then place the gauge in the slot to compare. The gauge is made of stainless steel and will last a long time. Its thickness of 0.46 millimetres allows it to fit in any fret slot. Its curved edges mean you can use it for flat and for rounded fretboards. The measurements along its four sides are easy to read.
