The rear top jacks are signal inputs and rear bottom jacks are signal outputs. A potential use for this is to plug the outputs from a multi-core in at a live gig situations into each of the top jacks then go from the rear bottom outputs to your mixing desk.The front top jacks are outputs and front bottom jacks are inputs. These are most commonly used for sending signal to external effect units the top jack would to into the input of this effect unit then output would back into the front bottom jack.
