Product Description
- Why choose active? It doesnt get much better than recording with an Active DI Box. The inclusion of an on-board preamp delivers a stronger signal and greater input impedance. Thanks to this it will be able to capture low-level signals with ease. Active DIs are renowned for their low-noise design high-fidelity reproduction and transparency when it comes to tone. Power up Incredibly versatile. Youll be able to power-up your Active DI Box multiple ways. If youre recording on location then youll be able to simply insert a readily available 9V battery (not included) to power the device. However if youre working in the studio take advantage of the XLR input to connect directly to your interface to supply 48V phantom power. Dont be fazed by phase If youre using the thru channel to send the signal to your amplifier whilst capturing the DI then its worth checking the phase relationship of both signals. Phase is the relationship that exists between two or more signals that come from one source. Youll find that phase issues occur when these signals arrive back at the DAW or mixer at slightly different times. Although the delay might seem very minor it can cause drop outs in the frequency spectrum making your tracks sound "hollow". A good way to check if your source is in phase is to position the pan points at the centre in your DAW or mixer and then engage and disengage the phase button to compare the quality of the signal. If when engaged the signal feels "fuller" and has more low-frequency presence then its likely the original signal was out of phase. If it sounds "thinner" and "brittle" then the signal was in phase and does not need correcting. Total control over your audio When youre directly recording into your interface youll notice that sources such as guitars and basses with high output pickups produce stronger signals which can sometimes lead to clipping and distortion even when the gain control is set to minimum. SubZero have thought of everything. The Active DI Box includes a -20dB pad switch. This reduces the sensitivity of the box allowing you to capture "hotter" signals with ease.
