Product Fundamentals
  • Updated features New and improved developments improve playability and note production. Updated for the first time in 12 years the new design offers a better tonal definition. The latest YFH8315 flugel horns have hollow barrel-shaped phosphor bronze leadpipe screws with altered screw threads for superior handling. Additionally there are new one-piece valve casings offering greater precision and stability. Custom model The small-bored construction offers the same mellow characteristic flugelhorn sound with a responsive dynamic range and accessible upper register - and the beautiful silver-plated finish gives the instrument a nuanced rich timbre. The gold brass two-piece bell has been laser-welded for an almost seamless bell with continuous even vibrations. All of this comes together to produce an instrument with a beautiful dark tonal quality fantastic projection and excellent blowing resistance. Malone leadpipe Bob Malone - originally a horn player himself - opened a custom brass shop in Los Angeles in 1983. His original leadpipe design was widely acclaimed and caused trumpeters at the time to throng his shop to have him customise their instruments personally. His designs now retain huge popularity amongst modern musicians due to their brilliant tone and projection. After Malone joined Yamahas Research and Development team in 2001 his leadpipe designs have made their way into a number of Custom series instruments and Xeno Artist models. Offering incredible responsiveness and intonation this unique leadpipe design elevates the playability of the YFH-8315G enormously. Special features The Yamaha YFH-8315G features new pistons caps and buttons crafted from durable Monel alloy. These new additions help to increase the models lifespan as well as to improve the quality of sound and playability. Hand-lapped pistons and slides ensure a perfect seal and help to achieve an improved response and intonation. Pressure-formed tubing guarantees perfectly rounded pipes resulting in less turbulence and a smoother airflow - which allows for reduced resistance and easy access to higher registers. Included extras The YFH-8315G comes included with a Yamaha FH-14F4 mouthpiece and a professional-quality Yamaha instrument case. This sturdy construction is designed to protect your instrument from bangs and scrapes. Its compact size is perfectly suited for carry-on luggage making it ideal for a musician on the move.
