Revolutionary condenser performance from a dynamic microphone Constructed with proprietary active circuitry the Austrian Audio OD505 does require phantom power in order to activate the capsule. Measuring at 4.4 mV /Pa the OD505 produces almost the same levels of sensitivity as even the best studio-quality condenser microphones. Because of the active circuitry the OD505 is able to produce a consistent sound regardless of the microphone preamp or the resistance of the cable that is used. The state of the art dual capsule design ensures the OD505 can compete with the sensitivity of a condenser microphone to ensure that every detail can be captured in immense detail making it ideal for studio recordings of a dynamic female lead vocal. Utilising the proprietary Open Acoustics Technology the OD505 capsule allows sound to enter the capsule entirely unimpeded from all sides. This in turn allows for the contact points between the capsule and enclosure to be reduced to a minimum to deliver an open and natural sound with little to no colouration. The Open Acoustics technology does serve more purpose than for sound quality. It significantly reduces the number of sound-reflecting surfaces on the face of the capsule ensuring a resonance-free performance whilst eliminating noise from handling bumps and background rumbling. By isolating the microphone more the capsule design makes the Austrian Audio OD505 ideal for live vocals. Background noise from other instruments or ambient noise from within the venue can cause problems for many condenser microphones when on stage. Often they will be too sensitive to these noises and they will be picked up through the microphone. To combat this the OD505 uses a tight supercardioid polar pattern to effectively eliminate off-axis noise. Because of this you can crank the gain higher without worrying about feedback as the microphone only picks up directionally whats in front of it instead of the instruments and noise around you.
