- DW HVLT Shell Construction The DW Design Series 22 4pc Shell Pack White Gloss features thicker North American maple shells that provide a full resonant and responsive tone with some series punch thrown in for good measure. This tone comes from the maple wood combined with DWs innovative HVLT ply technology. HVLT translates to Horizontal Vertical Low Timbre. Commonly when drum shells are in construction the outer ply is placed so the grain of the wood is vertical. DW Drums added the H to HVLT by placing the outer ply so that the wood grain is horizontally facing. This gives the shells additional tension and a deeper low end to the tone. Graduated Hoops & STM Mounts The toms on the DW Design Series 22 4pc Shell Pack White Gloss feature graduated chrome counter hoops meaning the smaller drums on the kit feature thinner hoops which allows them to resonate more freely and produce far richer tones. The DW Design Series 22 4pc Shell Pack White Gloss also features DWs STM (Suspension Tom Mount) system which allows the toms to resonate independently without any muting from hardware to shell contact. In order to provide drummers with even more control over their own sound DW has created its True-Pitch rod system. The rods feature 5mm threads instead of the standard 12mm or 24mm threads that are on most other drums. This allows the DW Design Series 22 4pc Shell Pack White Gloss to be tuned far more accurately allowing you to ascertain the perfect tone from your kit.
