The degree of distortion is determined by how firmly you hit and by the power of the pickups. Want more overdrive? Then play a bit firmer. And if you want a more clean sound, play a bit softer. When the amp passes a clean signal, you will only get a slight overdrive. If the amp is already overdriving, this pedal will add to the effect.
