Product Fundamentals
- String materials The strings have a nylon core. Synthetic cores such as nylon provide resistance to temperature change and humidity allowing for more reliable playing in many environments without needing to worry about the tuning drifting too much. The A and D strings are wound with aluminium the G string is wound with silver and the C string is wound with tungsten-silver. These materials are chosen for their timbre which matches the range and character of the strings theyre used for. Viola tonicas are sized based on their vibrating string length. This is useful for violas as there often isnt a uniform relationship between the size of the instrument and the length that the strings require. The sizing starts at 3/4 - 1/2 size which corresponds to an approximately 31cm string length the 4/4 size strings are around 37cm. Above these sizes then the string length is measured directly.
